When the finale revealed itself to me, I didn't realize how expansive it was. There is still so much to share, but at almost 100K words compared to the 60K-word prequels, the series needed a fourth book. I decided not to make everyone wait longer to resolve the cliffhanger from book 2, and released book 3 while 4 is still in the works.
